SN Architects is proud to unveil the design for The Pymble Hotel, a premier adaptive reuse project that promises to bring a new level of refined boutique accommodation to Sydney's North Shore. Located at the highly visible transport corridor of 915 Pacific Highway, Pymble, this ambitious development involves the complete transformation and expansion of an existing two-storey commercial building into a sophisticated three-storey destination. The project seamlessly bridges the gap between commercial utility and luxury hospitality, creating a highly desirable short-stay accommodation option that will actively support the local economy and business ecosystem near the Pymble town centre.
From an architectural perspective, the design language of The Pymble Hotel draws deep inspiration from classical elegance while integrating distinctly modern sensibilities to create a landmark facade. The proposed built form is characterized by striking traditional elements, including ornate balustraded balconies, detailed parapets, majestic columns, and large, beautifully proportioned arched windows. As depicted in the project renderings, the building’s light-coloured rendered exterior is heavily articulated and juxtaposed against expansive, dark-framed glazing. This thoughtful use of glass not only activates the street frontage but also effectively breaks up the building's mass, allowing natural light to flood the interior spaces. To further ground the structure and soften its visual impact along the Pacific Highway, visually recessive materials and strategically placed new landscape planters are incorporated within the ground floor setback.
Within its walls, the hotel is meticulously programmed to maximize guest amenity and comfort across a gross floor area of 766.52 square metres. The boutique property will offer an exclusive collection of 23 carefully appointed guest rooms. The ground floor is designed to be a welcoming and active space, featuring an inviting lobby, five elegantly appointed hotel rooms, a western-facing balcony, and a dedicated restaurant and kitchen tailored specifically for the enjoyment of hotel guests. Ascending to the newly added upper levels, the first and second floors each house nine additional hotel rooms. These upper levels also provide access to communal balconies that extend the living spaces outdoors while adding significant visual depth to the building's striking exterior.
Below ground, the development prioritizes wellness and convenience through a comprehensive lower-level extension. This basement area features a dedicated guest gymnasium, modern bathroom facilities, and direct lobby access to ensure a seamless guest experience. Accessibility and sustainable transport are also at the forefront of the design. The site will feature improved pedestrian accessibility with a clearly defined main entry and a newly installed wheelchair lift. For guests arriving by vehicle, the property provides 19 total car parking spaces—including 9 secure basement spaces—alongside 7 dedicated bicycle spaces.
Ultimately, SN Architects has designed The Pymble Hotel to be a catalyst for local vitality. Situated a mere 250 metres from the Pymble Local Centre and less than 400 metres from the Pymble Railway Station, the hotel is exceptionally well-positioned to cater to business professionals, tourists, and short-stay travellers.
